A lonely stretch of I-95 near Boynton Beach, Florida — Labor Day, September 4, 1978

In the Wishing Well Motel I had every reason to be unhappy. It was 1978. I had lost everything, and for no fault of my own. But I had submitted to my teacher, Dr. Donald McGavran, with whom I had been in close contact through correspondence for some time. I had obeyed the L-rd and had planted the seed of a great Jewish people movement in Florida. All the congregations I had started were beginning to grow and flourish. Yet in planting these messianic synagogues I had lost nearly everything it was possible to lose. Now I was a penniless, forsaken, homeless man, without even the dignity of my office as a minister. It was Labor Day, Monday, September 4, 1978.

However, hitch-hiking with only two dimes and three pennies in my pocket, I cried out to my Savior on the I-95 highway and received an immediate divine answer. Psalm 91:15 says, "I will be with him in trouble and deliver and honor him." So, hearing my cry, the L-rd, on the spot, had the manager of the Boynton Beach Wishing Well Motel give me a ride and a room. And in that free motel room the business card on the night stand said, "Your Wish Will Come True At The Wishing Well Motel." So I prayed for the L-rd to give me a film called The Rabbi from Tarsus — which He did eight years later, almost to the day. William Carey says, "Expect GREAT things from God; attempt GREAT things for God."

"Phil, we have your stage play, the film crew and the director and your screenplay, but you have to send us $23,000 now. Do you have the money?"

Neil Lash called me up and said those words. I said no problem. Then I prayed again, and the L-rd brought Tommy Peters to mind. I did not know how the Lord was already working. The day before I called him, Tommy Peters had been given a directive from his administrative board: "Spend the $23,000 in the bank account tomorrow!" Then, with divine timing, the Holy Spirit impressed on me to call him at the perfect time, and he sent me the check for $23,000 the next day. The movie was made, and, as the promise in Psalm 91:15 says, I WAS delivered and honored. God is faithful to His Word. When people came up to the set on the day of filming in 1986, they looked around in amazement and asked, "Who is producing this movie production?" I said, "Well I know it is CERTAINLY not a homeless washed up guy with 23 cents in the Wishing Well Motel. Let me give you a hint who the Producer is. The Producer is Jewish and He was born in Bethlehem. Now guess his Name."

Now Linda is in a "Wishing Well Motel" of sorts. Linda received a kidney transplant on Pesach 2025, when a man went to his death (remember the Lamb of God who went to his death?) so that Linda could go to life (remember how the People of God had an exodus to life on Passover?). It was divine timing that Linda received this dead man's life-saving kidney on Passover. But now the kidney she received is not working efficiently, and the toxin build-up in her blood is making her nauseated with dry heaves. She needs a miracle healing for this miracle kidney. So please pray for her, that God will heal her. And the good news is, Labor Day Weekend is coming — and it's only a few days away! We get a big miracle every Labor Day! The promise of Psalm 91:15 is still in the Bible: "I will be with him/her in trouble; I will deliver him/her and honor him/her." Claim that promise for Linda and for yourself.

Remember: I had been on a lonely highway in Boynton Beach, but I was not alone. The L-rd was with me in trouble. And for this reason I knew something of the feeling Rav Sha'ul felt in the prison cell, where, facing execution, he wrote joyfully to the congregation, or kehillah, in Philippi. Where did Paul's happiness come from? Certainly not from anything in this world. Where did he get the joy? Where did I get the joy? I got the joy from the fact that I was not alone. My room was paid for by the Moshiach, and I was not the only occupant in the room — Moshiach was with me. Moreover, and this is what you must understand, I was experiencing the joy of the fellowship of his sufferings. I had found the secret of happiness.

But don't miss the point. I cried out to my Savior on the I-95 highway and received what the Bible promises: "All who ask the Lord for help will be saved" (Joel 2:32). Notice the deliverance that followed was a FREE gift, not the result of my own effort, so I could never boast about it (Ephesians 2:8-9). And, lastly, Heaven is a FREE Wishing Well Motel room, as it says, "There are many rooms in my Father's house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am" (John 14:2-3). So this then is really the Whole Megillah.

I had two dimes and three pennies. Maybe you have a ten dollar bill. Pray about partnering with us to turn this into something world-changing like this.

Receive Him as your Savior and Lord today.
