Let me tell you a true story, with eye-witnesses in Brooklyn that
can confirm every thing. First listen to this aside. Xenoglossia is the
phenomenon wherein someone speaks in an unknown foreign language. It is a
sign of the Tevilah in the Ruach Hakodesh in Ac chapter 2. But then
apparently, for Shimon Kefa (see the word "for" in Ac
10:46) glossolalia was a sufficient sign that non-Jews in Ac chapter
10 had had their own "Shavuos" infilling and the Ruach Hakodesh had also
fallen on the non-Jews in Cornelius' house with the mighty spiritual
empowerment called the Tevilah in the Ruach Hakodesh just as it had the
Jewish believers on Shavuos.
Now back to the true story. This happened in Brooklyn at a Messianic
Russian congregation on Brighton Beach near the Atlantic Ocean near the
Coney Island Amusement Park area of New York City. There were two
ministers at the service. The Holy Spirit fell on several people. One
minister was Italian in background. The other minister was from Rowanda in
Africa. Many of his family had been killed there. Suddenly the
Italian-background minister began to speak in the Rowandan language and
the minister from Rowanda was shocked when he heard the words, so much so
that he went several hundred miles to another service to testify about the
miracle he had heard with his own ears. The Rowandan message that came out
of the Italian minister's mouth was this verbatim message in Rowandan:
"These men and their sisters love You (meaning G-d)." The Italian minister
had never been to Africa and had no knowledge whatsoever of the language
of Rowanda. The writer confirms that this story was checked and verified
by him (Dr. Phillip Goble) personally, interviewing the ministers
individually and hearing their testimony.
The above miracle
happened in March of 2006. Now why do we speak in leshonot chadashot? As a
sign for unbelievers. As a way of edifying our spirit and drowning out the
voice of the flesh and the devil in our prayer in the Spirit to G-d. As a way of doing
spiritual warfare. Just as Eastern Bloc communist countries like Bulgaria
used to engage in jamming Radio Free Europe so we sometimes use leshonot
chadashot to engage in jamming the voice of the devil and the carnal
nature when we are tempted. By praying in the Spirit we are able to fast
and wait on the L-rd until the temptation passes. If this spiritual armor
were not needed it would not be dealt with in Mark 16, Ac 2, Ac 10, Ac 19, and 1C 12 and 1C 13 and 1C 14 as well as Ro 5:5 and Ro 8:26. Why not get
properly attired for heaven
by means of the garment of praise (exchanged for the spirit of heaviness, Isaiah 61:3)putting on Moshiach
in the new birth and, in
the meantime, let heaven and the languages of angels come down and fill
your mouth with heaven's glory?
Dear anti-charismatic, what about
this kind of preaching? (Note:
